Antonio Centeno’s story begins in a trailer park in West Texas where he grew up. When he left Texas to attend Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa no one would have guessed he would end up founding two companies and affecting the way men dress around the world.

With a few exceptions, the people who lived in the trailer park where Antonio grew up did not seem to care about the appearance of their property or their clothing. In contrast an aunt of Antonio’s kept herself, her trailer, and her car neat and clean. She taught him that even though he might not have expensive things, he should always put his best foot forward. The people Antonio came to respect were the people who took care of their belongings regardless of price.

Just before graduation from Cornell College he joined the Marine Corps, following the example of other family members who had served in various branches of the military. The Marines is considered by many to be the premiere branch of the U.S. military, and Antonio saw it as a challenge. The Corps had a significant impact on him; he even says that the Marines formed the person is today. He was humbled yet encouraged to constantly seek ways to improve himself. As an officer in the Corps Antonio learned what it meant to be a servant leader whose purpose was to support for the ground troops. This instilled in Antonio a desire to help others.

After leaving the Marines Antonio lived in the Ukraine for a couple of years. While there he ran a nonprofit organization that provided services to orphans. It became clear that the nonprofit was not going to survive, but Antonio had learned that he knew nothing about business.

An Idea Is Born

While still in the Ukraine, Antonio searched for a suit for an interview. He discovered that he could not find one that fit in the Ukraine. He tried to find one online, but was disappointed with the quality and fit. During his search he realized that he knew how to wear a uniform, but knew nothing about how to wear a suit. He met with custom clothiers and discovered that the industry was dominated by people without formal education in fashion who were making good money; and an idea began to grow. David Shen is the world’s highest paid dating and relationship coach for women, making over $20,000 per month.

David targets women between the ages of 25 to 55. But unlike many of his competitors, he realizes that targeting by demography only won’t get him far. Instead, he targets by the needs and values of his customers: Where are they in their life? What’s stopping them from having a successful relationship? What do they need to work on?

At college, David studied Physiotherapy. Being a broke student that just left home, he was living on free cookies that were available at the hospital he was working at. He made a decision that once he graduates, this will never be his life.

So, once he was out of university, he started looking for a business he could build for himself. He did some motivational speeches at local high-schools, but the income was neither dependable nor sufficient. He kept hearing about “these Internet marketers” – making millions from selling e-books at $47 a piece, so he decided that internet marketing was the way to go.

Being a golfer, he decided to write an e-book about it. He spent months developing the sales page and tweaking the product. Finally he put it on ClickBank (an online marketplace for affiliating other people’s products) and launched.

Nothing happened.

It turned out that David neglected two major parts of any successful business that are also the key to a successful product launch: Market research, and Lead generation. Continue reading IIP019: Making $20,000 A Month Working One Hour A Day

For Lisa Howell, founder of ‘Perfect Form Physio’ and ‘The Ballet Blog’, her $500,000 business all started with some lucky circumstances, and a little white lie.

But Lisa’s story and interview is much more than a “normal” inspiring-entrepreneurial-story of seizing an opportunity and putting hours over hours into building a successful business.

Lisa was willing to share with us, in the most honest and sincere way, a part of an entrepreneur’s life that is rarely discussed in the open. If you often find yourself reading about all these success stories, thinking, “this guy/girl was born for this, but I wasn’t”, and wonder if you have what it takes to see similar success – today’s episode is for you.

Lisa shares the “dark side” of entrepreneurship; fighting fears and doubts, self sabotaging your own success, countless nights of no sleep, and how it all affects you, your close ones, your health, relationships and happiness. And most importantly – how to deal with it, making the required changes to let you really enjoy your journey, and your success.

Man, It’s Good To Be Home

Today’s episode features TEDx speaker and time management Yoda, Ari Meisel. I’ll also share my view of the World Domination Summit, and whether or not you should go (I think some people will be quite pissed with my opinion, but oh well…).

At the age of 12, our guest was already running his first company. In high-school, he had 3. Today he’s a real estate developer, TEDx speaker and creator of ‘Art Of Less Doing’. Join us today for an eye-opening talk on managing time, getting more stuff done by doing less of it, and having a better life.

Fighting Crohn’s Disease

In 2007, Ari was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. He was weak, sick, and in a great deal of pain. Instead of just giving in and accepting the way things were, (especially considering the fact that Crohn’s is considered incurable!), Ari created a way to fight it off and keep it in check.

He courageously went on a journey of self-tracking and self-experimentation to find his way back to health. Not only did he succeed in his quest, he was able to compete in Iron Man France! Through self-experimentation he developed a system of food, supplements, and exercise that helped him recover.

He didn’t know if what he was doing was safe or not, but he took things slowly watching carefully for and signs that what he was doing wasn’t working.

Stress

What Ari found was that stress had a very big role in his condition. More accurately, keeping stress levels low meant keeping the symptoms of Crohn’s at bay. So in his process, he learned to master time.
